Director of Orthotics and Prosthetics

Tim Nelson, BOCO

Tim was born and raised in Colorado Springs. He attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, where he studied business management. After college he became a certified fitness instructor before attending the Colorado Springs Police Academy, from which he graduated in 1994.

While at the police academy, Tim began his own construction contracting company, which quickly grew and became successful. He discovered that he greatly enjoyed working with his hands and getting to see his visions go from ideas to completed projects.

In early 2001, Tim went back to school to pursue another area of study of great interest to him: science. For several years, Tim studied biology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics, biochemistry, and architecture at Pikes Peak Community College.

In 2003, Tim saw the marriage of his two great interests – working with his hands to build things, and anatomy and physiology – when he accepted a job working for Audubon Orthotic & Prosthetic Services.
